Shiplake College is a community that focuses on kindness, personal bests and positive attitudes. Now almost fully co-educational, following the introduction of girls into Year 7 in 2023 (to join the well-established co-educational environment in the Sixth Form), Shiplake continues to evolve as the school grows, not just in pure numbers, but in its ambition and aspiration.
Sprawling new playing pitches and a full-size artificial playing pitch, 3G training pitch, and more cricket nets are just some recent developments, following the creation of ten more classrooms and five new science laboratories. The setting overlooking the River Thames is beautiful and uplifting but it is the people who provide the magic and create Shiplake’s authentic and unique culture. When you walk through the doors you will be greeted by warm smiles a
The College is conveniently located 40 minutes from Heathrow airport and is close to the major railway and motorway networks, with easy links to Reading, London and Oxford. Shiplake does not select on the grounds of academic ability alone. Applications are welcome from all pupils who have the potential to make the most of the wealth of opportunities offered.
Shiplake College’s ethos focuses on its core values, known as the Three Is – Inclusive, Individual, Inspirational.
